Here's a view of the railway from the east side facing southwest. I have reoriented the platte of the layout from earlier posts, with Port Pacific now on the south side of Metallikahmish Bay from the town of Metallikahmish Bay proper. When complete, this bridge will be a non-operating drawbridge with the lift mechanism at the north end of the bridge. The Douglas Canal has been widened to support bigger boat traffic. The original Bridge Over The Douglas Canal will be reused in another part of the layout later on.
Directly to the south of the bridge in tan is the subfoundation for Onceler's Thneed Factory. The subfoundation is there to provide a level service to attach buildings to the layout using just a couple of big drops of white glue so that the bond can easily be broken if/when the layout needs to be moved.
In the below photo, facing due south from the bridge, is the subfoundation for Onceler's Thneed Factory - with the highway approaching a future operating highway drawbridge to the immediate west. In the distance past all three curves in the track - also in tan - is the subfoundation for the relocated Northlake tavern.
The above view is the south end of the layout. Facing southwest in the foreground is the Northlake Tavern subfoundation. Down the hill is the subfoundation for the Port Pacific Fire Department.
Now we're at the bottom of the hill facing due north. Directly ahead is the subfoundation for Lemmy's Grilled By Death Barbecue.
Finally, a photo fo the For Sale By Owner sign I'm using as a source of thin styrene.
