Kirby Hill

Kirby Hill is the first construction work on the north side of the bay.  On top of Kirby Hill will be the town of Metallikahmish Bay - with the railroad mainline running underneath through a tunnel.

For the first section of the hill I used the box that my Apple Macbook came in flipped on its side.  First you see the box being test fit - then glued in place with the tunnel cut out.  On the north side of the box it is open for easy access in case of derailment.  The opening will be detailed with a fascia board later on.

Next you'll see prep for the slope on the south side of the hill.

Plaster impregnated cloth dampened and added and painted

Finally, a stone retaining wall was added along with more paint and bushes

To finish up this area, I called an audible and removed the bushes that you see next to the semi.  I then extended the rock slope out to the access road to the future Fireball Distillery - completing the scene with a timber retaining wall.

Next up was the east side of the slope - starting with cutting a corner out of the box and backfilling the space with small foam chunks.  I added a retaining wall to the front with screen fencing up on part of the wall.

Finally, paint and more greenery added to complete the scene.

Will eventually line the tunnel, add a tunnel portal and add a profile board on the north side of the hill.

Next time:  Siting Fireball Distillery
