With the elimination of the highway bridge a little more real estate has opened up on the south end of the bay. Originally the vacant lot next to the highway was to be used for the 3 Pirate Captains Mexican Bar & Grill. With the addition of the width of the highway and it's two shoulders the location will now include 3 adjoined buildings:
1. The Forbidden Door
2. 3 Pirates...
3. The Church of the Subgenius
3 Pirates will have a plank out the back door for misbehaving diners and drinkers.
The Church of the Subgenius will have a spaceport on the roof for arriving spaceships to depart with church members on X day.
The Forbidden Door will have a small dock for departing sailors who have been "Shanghai'd"
None of the three do any trackside business so no siding capacity is needed.
They do add flavor to the city and provide welcome relief at shift's end for the workers at the Slaughterhouse, Thneed Factory and Grain Terminal - as well as plenty of business for the local police as well.
First up in site prep is to take out the highway approach to the bridge and widen the road to the south of the new subfoundation to accommodate wide left turns into the grain terminal.
Secondly the elevation of the subfoundation was raised to match the road.
Finally, the subfoundation was added and painted - as was the road.
While I was working on site prep in the area I also added the subfoundation for the Grain Growers Terminal - again made from remnants of one of my For Rent signs and painted "Subfoundation Tan"
